The Story That Shaped Our Mission

We’re Brian and Maggie Bohanon, and our journey with Assisting Hands Home Care in Kennesaw, GA began from a place of deep love and personal experience. Like so many families, we’ve faced the deeply emotional challenge of caring for someone we love and wanting to do everything right for them.

For us, everything changed when Brian’s mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Her one wish was simple: to stay in her own home, surrounded by everything that made her feel safe and at peace. We promised to honor that wish. But as we quickly learned, that promise came with an enormous responsibility. We had to ensure her safety, comfort, and dignity while giving her the independence she wanted.

Those days taught us what home care truly means. Every decision, every sleepless night, and every act of love revealed how vital compassionate, dependable in-home care really is. We also saw firsthand the challenges within the system, the lack of consistency, the gaps in communication, and the stress it placed on families already stretched thin.

When Brian’s mom passed away, it left us with more than just memories. It left us with purpose. We knew we couldn’t walk away from what we had learned. We wanted to create something better, something rooted in empathy, respect, and genuine human connection.

In 2024, we opened our own Assisting Hands Home Care location in Kennesaw with one promise: to care for others as we would care for our own family.
